Region 8 mayor's son takes guilty plea

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The son of a Region 8 mayor is serving 6 years of probation after pleading guilty to attempted computer exploitation of a child.

Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington said earlier this summer, Shannon Jones, the son of Brookland Mayor Kenneth Jones, took that plea.

That plea is a felony.

Jones has already served 70 days in jail for the crime.

He was arrested in March of 2013 for trying to solicit sex online from what he thought was a 15 year-old boy.

That 15 year-old boy turned out to be a police officer.
