JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The national campaign "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" kicks off Friday and local authorities are participating.
Sergeant George Martin with the Jonesboro Police Department said they participate in this campaign every year.
He said their goal is not to make a lot of arrests, but to get a very important message across: Be safe.
"We everybody to take that extra minute to plan before they go," Martin said. "It's not that hard. Hey, I'm going to go out and hang out with friends. I'm going to have a designated driver, I'm going to use a cab to get there and a cab to get back. Whatever the case may be. Just take that extra time to plan."
Martin said sobriety check points will be set up through Labor Day weekend, so if you decide to drink and drive, authorities are going to catch you.
