Officers nab parole absconder

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

“That was it and you got me," Regis D. Booker of Jonesboro is quoted in a Jonesboro police report after his arrest on numerous charges including drug possession and violating his parole.

According to the report, officers were searching for Booker on a felony warrant when they spotted him at 4:15 Thursday afternoon.

In his narrative, Jonesboro Police Officer Erik Johnson stated Booker took off running when he entered the driveway of the apartment complex on Chestnut where Booker was spotted.

Booker quickly gave up and was arrested. Officer Johnson and another officer then searched a vehicle Booker attempted to enter. In the report, it says that is when officers found a .45 caliber handgun loaded with 10 rounds.

That’s where Booker was quoted as telling officers “That was it and you got me.”

Officers didn’t stop the search there.  They also searched the residence where Booker was reportedly staying.  Inside, officers say they found and photographed drugs and drug paraphernalia.  They also found other weapons that looked real, but turned out to be BB guns.

Booker was booked on several charges including probation violation, absconding, possession of a firearm by certain persons and several drug charges.

He is currently in the Craighead County Detention Center.
