JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Several vials of chemicals used to make explosives were found among a man's belongings and turned over to police.

Around 9 p.m. Sunday, Jonesboro police were called to Jonesboro Fire Station number one on E. Johnson in reference to the chemicals.

Officer Keith Baggett states a man told police his brother had recently died in Texas and had been in the military.

The mother of the men collected items including two yellow plastic vials and two unmarked, small, clear vials found in a safe along with a detonation cord and blasting caps, Baggett said.

The report stated she did not realize what the items were.

The officer said the chemicals would only react if they were mixed together.

The items were brought to the mother's home and the brother found them while going through the items.

Baggett said the man called Arkansas State Police after making the discovery. ASP told him to take the items to the Jonesboro Fire Department to turn them over.

Officers collected the items and they will be turned over to ASP personnel.
