Arkansas State University students returned to class Monday and they were welcomed back by the completion of a highly anticipated building.
The Humanities and Social Sciences Building took several years to construct.
Many alums remember when the construction originally started, and now it’s complete for the 2016 school year.
The building includes 124,000 square feet of education space.
Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at A-State Bill Smith said the opening of this building is a game changer.
“It's a phrase that is often overused, but it really transforms campus,” Smith said. “It does open up the heart of our campus and bring it back to life. You see those fences down and now you have a lovely, inviting space that welcomes you in.”
Smith said the building was designed to be a congregation area for everyone at the university.
