Region 8 school employee airlifted after fall from roof

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Region 8 school employee was airlifted to a hospital Monday after getting injured while working.

According to Westside Superintendent Bryan Duffie, a maintenance employee fell off the roof of the high school Monday morning.

The fall was about a 12 foot drop.

School nurses and resource officers responded quickly.

An EMT on scene made the decision to airlift the employee to The Med in Memphis.

The helicopter was landed on the football field.

Students were held in their classes and did not switch to the next period until the helicopter and ambulance left campus.

Duffie said the employee sustained injuries to his head and shoulder and chest area.

He told Region 8 News the head injury is more than likely a traumatic brain injury.
