The gym at the Paragould Community Center should be back open to the public soon and look as new as the day it opened.
The gym was closed for repairs in mid-June after an ice storm this spring revealed a major leak.
Since then, crews fixed the damaged hardwood and completely sanded the floor back down to it's original state.
Paragould Parks Director Pat Austin said all that's left now is to paint and put down two coats of polyurethane.
Austin said she's excited for the gym to be used again.
"By the middle of September, we should be hopefully, without any problems unforeseen here, we should be open in two weeks," Austin said.
Austin said the main problem they were able to fix in the time the gym has been closed is the leak that started this project to begin with.
Since work on the gym began, there have been a few heavy rains and no signs of leakage.
Austin also said that they are normally closed during Thanksgiving break to re-seal the floor but since that work is being done now, they'll be open all fall.
