WEINER, AR (KAIT) -

TV cameras were walking the streets of one Region 8 rural community on Wednesday.

The Travel Channel had a crew of 5 people in Weiner for a special feature called Food Towns USA.

The crew interviewed the mayor of Weiner, Todd Bartholomew, and visited a local restaurant for home cooking and locals.

Vickie Lowery owns the flower shop in Weiner and helped provide shrubs for the landscaping around town in preparation for the cameras.

She's excited about the opportunity for the town of Weiner.

“It's great to see these small towns being acknowledged and not letting them fall in the past and behind,” Lowery said. “I think that is great they are coming through and picking up these small towns and letting people see what small towns do have.”

The day wouldn't have been complete without a Weiner Dog Contest across from city hall.

Those who helped plan the day told Region 8 News the feature should air sometime in November.
