New jobs possibly coming to Mississippi County

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Mississippi County could see more jobs opening up soon.

The county is working to bring in an Indiana based company called Five Star Hydraulics.

The company would be placed on the air force base and could supply up to 35 new jobs.

Mississippi County Quorum Court is supporting the new company move, but they also need support from the state to move forward.

The county is waiting on positive feedback from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.

The plant is a service company for steel and pipe businesses.

Mississippi County Economic Developer Clif Chitwood said companies like this that service the steel industry can continue to help the economic growth in the county.

"Mississippi County is becoming what we have worked for almost 30 years to make it and that is one of, if not the major steel hub in the United States," Chitwood said.

He also told Region 8 News Five Start Hydraulics is a well paying company.

Salaries could start around $20 per hour for new employees.
