JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The financing for a 152 room hotel and conference center has been approved, according to a news release from the city of Jonesboro.
According to a release from Fritz Gisler, Chuck Keller of Effingham, Illinois was notified that the financing for Hyatt Place Hotel and Conference Center was approved. Keller has been working for years with the city to build the facility in northeast Arkansas, the release stated.
"I am very excited to be able to make the announcement that this conference center is coming to Jonesboro," Mayor Harold Perrin stated in the release. "We have had tremendous interest in the last several years from multiple entities, and I have worked with all of them in trying to secure a center for our city. As a growing community, we have been blessed with several recent hotel projects. In addition to the Hyatt Place project, Arkansas State University has been working on a full-service hotel property to be located on campus. I am confident that both of these projects will be a tremendous asset to our city."
The project will be built on the old City Services Center site, along Brown's Access Lane and the bypass.
That site, now called Centre Park, was demolished in the spring of 2014.
