PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - The Paragould Post Office said see you around to one of their longtime workers.
Monday was Sam Becerra's last day at the Paragould Post office in downtown Paragould.
He has worked at that location since 1994 and has carried mail, been a janitor and for the last 15 years worked the front counter.
Becerra said if you count his years before working in Paragould, he has worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 25 years.
Becerra said he loves his job and will miss all the friends he's made.
"It means a lot for them to think I served them," Becerra said. "It's been a good experience, it really has."
Becerra said it's not goodbye; he will be around town.
He plans to be a substitute teacher at Crowley's Ridge Academy.
Many people came in to give their thanks Monday with cards, flowers, and hugs.
In fact, Becerra wasn't even scheduled to work Monday, but the post office was short staffed so of course he worked one last day behind the counter doing what he loves.
