Event planned to help fund Barry Don Weyer Jr. Scholarship

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Another season of A-State football is here, but there’s a familiar face missing from the field at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Barry Don Weyer Jr. would have been a senior this year. He died in a car accident last year.

Earlier this year, Weyer's parents established a scholarship endowment in his name at Arkansas State.

A fundraiser to help in this effort is underway right now.

Strawberry’s of Holcomb, MO will prepare one pound pork steaks, scalloped potatoes, baked beans and slaw.

Reserve your plate now for $20 each.

You can order now by contacting Barry Weyer at 870-240-5834 or Mechelle Weyer at 870-450-6635.

Pickup is Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Many friends and relatives have already donated to the fund.

Barry Don Weyer's career goal was to become a college football coach.
