DUNKLIN COUNTY, MO (KAIT) - A Region 8 man is $550,000 richer after claiming his half of a recent $1.1 million Missouri Lottery jackpot.
There were two winning tickets sold for the Aug. 15 Missouri Lotto drawing.
The first half has already been claimed by a man from Bonne Terre.
The second half has now been claimed by Bill Depew of Campbell.
Depew bought his winning ticket at R&P Services in Hayti.
"Every time that Lotto plays, I buy a couple of tickets," Depew said. "Lotto, Powerball, Mega Millions and Show Me Cash and that new one, Lucky for Life."
Depew, who is retired, said the money will be used to pay off all the bills that he owes.
"We're going to try and get him a new truck," his wife Shirley said.
"I can't get it in the garage," Depew said of his current truck. "I thought we'd get a smaller truck."
He explained that he was taking the cash option of the prize because of his age.
That comes to $275,000 before taxes. He said he will continue to play the lottery.
"Just don't give up," he said. "Just keep trying."
Lotto is a twice-weekly Draw Game with drawings on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Jackpots start at $1 million, and players get two plays for $1.
The two stores that sold the tickets will split the $5,000 selling bonus.
Depew used Quick Pick to choose those winning numbers.
