Save the date and clean the park

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Volunteers are needed for litter pickup on Saturday, Sep. 26 at Crowley’s Ridge State Park.

The event, part of Public Lands Day and the Great Arkansas Cleanup, features a free pizza lunch, t-shirts and a fee-free coupon.

“If you register by Sep. 1, you can receive a fee-free coupon,” Elizabeth Whaley, park interpreter with Crowley’s State Park said. “It will get you into a federal land management area. "Say you volunteer at Crowley’s Ridge State Park and you want to go to the Rocky Mountain National Park, it will transfer there.”

The annual fall litter pickup is from 9 a.m. to noon.

Everyone is urged to participate in this year’s litter-pickup effort.

Civic and service organizations, church and youth groups, school groups and clubs are invited to participate.

“We are encouraging Boy Scouts, Cub Scout, church groups or any individual who just wants to come out and join us, help keep the part clean is invited,” Whaley said.

Volunteers will meet in the open field beside Walcott Lake to receive direction, sign in and pick up supplies. Supplies such as safety vests, trash bags, and work gloves will be provided to volunteers; however you are welcome to bring your own, as well.

To register, please call 870-573-6751 or email crowleysridge@arkansas.com.
