JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A committee put together by Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin met for a second time Thursday night to discuss the pay of city employees.
The goal of Thursday's meeting was to come up with a formula to get the pay of the employees who have been with the city for years, higher than the pay of the new employees they are training.
Jonesboro Finance Committee Chairman Darrel Dover said through these meetings they hope to keep city employees around longer.
"Well our final goal is to be able to come back to the full council with a longevity plan that rewards people for their years of service in terms of pay," Dover said. "We want to get that done in the next 5 weeks so we can present that to the mayor before the budget process starts."
Dover said they want to have fair pay for all the city's employees.
The next meeting on this issue will be next Wednesday in the conference room at the Jonesboro Municipal Center.
