FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) - A teen in Forrest City is facing a murder charge in the death of his uncle.
Forrest City police state officers were called around 10 a.m. Monday to the 800-block of Stonebrook St. for a man that had been shot.
Upon arrival officers found the victim identified as Martesz Childers on the kitchen floor with apparent gunshot wounds, according to police.
Childers was taken to a Forrest City hospital where he later died.
The Forrest City Police Department investigated the incident and determined Childers had been shot by his 16-year-old nephew after "an argument over money being stolen by the suspect from the victim."
Officers executed a search warrant at the suspect's father's home where a pursuit on foot occurred. A weapon was recovered and the suspect was arrested without incident, according to FCPD.
Police state Mozel Williams III has been charged as an adult for first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a minor.
The teen is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
In a reference to the incident, FCPD Chief Deon Lee said, "It is tragic that a family has to endure a loss especially by the hands of another loved one. The family has our deepest condolences during this most difficult time."
