$30,000 in equipment stolen from Jonesboro business

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Labor Day weekend didn't end well for a Region 8 business that opened up to find their equipment stolen.

Josh Moss said he came up to his shop, Moss Fencing, in Jonesboro Monday to drop off equipment when he saw all the hinges cut from his gate.

He said he could immediately tell something wasn't right. Moss said the thief took a van, trailer, nail guns, saws, an air compressor and other equipment.

Moss Fencing can recover from this loss, but Moss said it's impacting more than just his family.

"I actually had to send a couple of guys home because without tools I didn't have work for them for the day," Moss said. "So they all have families, they lost a day's worth of income, not to mention yesterday already being off."

Moss said he immediately contacted the Jonesboro Police Department. Police located the van early Tuesday morning, but everything inside the van is still missing.

Moss said police were able to get several fingerprints off the van.

In light of theft, Moss said he welded every bolt on his gate, while also putting locks and chains on the entrance.

City Water and Light is also scheduled to install high security lighting Tuesday night. Moss said he is installing security cameras in hopes of stopping this from happening again.

Moss Fencing is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who can offer information that will lead to an arrest and conviction.

If you have any information please call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP or contact the Jonesboro Police Department.
