MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - More than 1,000 jobs could soon come to Misssissippi County, according to documents obtained by Region 8 News.
According to the recorded minutes from Tuesday's planning and development committee meeting, Economic Developer Clif Chitwood stated he has been working on a project to bring more jobs to the county.
Mississippi County is 1 of 5 sites this new, unnamed project could be coming to. If Mississippi County is chosen for the project, it would be located north of Denso on Interstate 55.
Chitwood stated an incentive of $11,000 per job would be awarded to those who work for the company and also live within the county.
The purpose of this incentive would be to keep jobs in the county and attract more people to move in.
Chitwood is quoted as stating there would be a quarterly report given to make sure the employees receiving the incentives actually stay within the county.
During the meeting, a motion was unanimously passed to authorize $40,000 in site studies for the property being considered to house this new project.
The study is necessary because there have not been any previous studies done on the site, according to Chitwood.
