Williams Baptist College named "top tier" southern college

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 college climbs a list of "top tier" Southern colleges.

Williams Baptist College (WBC) comes in 51st in the annual college edition of US News & World Report.

This year, WBC moved up eight spots higher than they were listed in last year's edition, according to a news release from the college.

“WBC has always excelled in its personal attention to students, and that is a key reason for this good ranking in US News.  Our low student-to-teacher ratio and small class sizes are both reflected in the rankings,” Dr. Tom Jones, president of WBC noted.

This is the school's sixth year in a row to be listed in the magazine.

“The US News ranking represents a true affirmation of the quality education that Williams Baptist College provides its students,” said Jones.  “The fact that Williams continues to move upward in the rankings also indicates that our reputation continues to grow.”

The US News rankings are based on a series of criteria including:

  • style="background:white;">Class sizes
  • style="background:white;">Student-to-teacher ratio
  • style="background:white;">Student retention
  • style="background:white;">Peer reputation

Williams Baptist College is a four-year, Christian, liberal art college in Walnut Ridge.
