CYS runaways accused of stealing FedEx van

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Two runaways face felony charges after police say they stole a FedEx van and drove it into a woman’s yard.

A Consolidated Youth Services employee reported the 13- and 16-year-old suspects missing from the facility, 4220 S. Stadium, shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

According to a Jonesboro Police Department incident report, the teens were last seen climbing a fence and heading north.

A short time later Sgt. Dustin Norwood of the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department was called to a home in the 600-block of County Road 324 regarding a FedEx van in a woman’s front yard.

When Norwood arrived at the house, the woman said the suspects were attempting to escape out of a window at the front of the home.

“As I ran to the front of the residence I could hear the subjects running through the residence,” Norwood reported. “I then made my way back to the rear of the residence where I contacted the two juveniles.”

Norwood arrested the teens and took them to the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center where they were charged as runaways and with theft of a vehicle.

According to the JPD report, the teens are suspected of stealing the FedEx van from Diamond Hogz Logistics, 3012 Ole Feed House Rd.

The owner said the keys were “most likely” left in the van.

He also said someone also attempted to hot wire a Chevy Trailblazer on the lot.
