Businesses prepare for the Red Wolves first home game

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

It's a big weekend for Arkansas State University and the Red Wolves. The big game also means business will boom this weekend.

As Red Wolves fans are gearing up for the big game against Mizzou Saturday, so are local businesses and hotels.

Restaurants like J-Town's Grill in Jonesboro are more than ready for the boost in business.

Manager Lisa Godsey said they had a great summer, but it's go-time once football season starts.

She said being located right across from the stadium gets them a lot of foot traffic before and after the game and, of course, more customers means extra hands on deck for Saturday.

“Absolutely, we will have a full staff that day to make sure everyone is taken care of because usually on home games it's totally packed in here, standing room only, and both patios are full,” Godsey said. “After the game we usually have what we call the fifth quarter where everybody comes back.”

Restaurants aren't the only ones bringing in extra money this weekend.

Several hotels are getting ready for overnight guests.

Fairfield Inn and Suites is sold out of rooms along with Comfort Suites.

Lexington Suites and Baymont Inn and Suites told Region 8 News they are a few rooms shy of capacity.

The Arkansas State University Red Wolves play the University of Missouri Tigers Saturday at 6 p.m.
