Planning commission approves site plan for new car wash

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Jonesboro Metropolitan Area Planning Commission has approved site plans for a Rhyno Car Wash to be located along Highland Drive.

Though commissioners unanimously approved the final site plan presented by Tralan Engineering, construction of the car wash does come with a few stipulations.

The property was rezoned for commercial use in 2010. At that time, citizens raised concerns about buffers between a business and homes in the area.

In a meeting Tuesday night, Tralan Engineering requested to reduce part of the buffer distance required through the rezoning approval due to sewer easements.

Michael Boggs with Tralan Engineering told the MAPC that they have attempted to contact property owners regarding a buffer reduction multiple times.

Though Boggs said they have been unsuccessful in reaching the property owners, they are willing to put up a privacy fence and dense landscaping along the buffer.

"We want to do what we need to do to make this work," Boggs said.

Commissioners approved the site plan contingent upon contact with property owners regarding fencing and lighting.

The Rhyno Car Wash is to be located at 1840 and 1844 East Highland Drive, between RNR Custom Wheels & Tire Express and Palm Beach Tans.
