Jonesboro mayor names new chief financial officer

The City of Jonesboro has a new Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer.

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin named Suzanne Allen as the city's new CFO Wednesday.

Allen recently served as the Federal Program Director/District Treasurer for Hoxie Public Schools.

During her time there, Allen prepared annual budgets, managed accounting for the district and provided oversight for state and federal programs.

According to a news release, Allen also obtained more than $1.5 million in grants, served on the academic advisory committee and assisted with overall planning for the Hoxie School District.

Allen, a certified CPA, holds a Master's in Business Administration from Arkansas State University.

"We had several qualified candidates from across the country for this position," Mayor Perrin said.  "Suzanne's combination of education, capability, and community service made her stand out."

Allen replaces Ben Barylske as the CFO for the City of Jonesboro. Barylske resigned in July to work as CFO for NEA Baptist Clinic.

Mayor Perrin said Allen will serve as a great addition to the team.

"She brings a great deal of experience and skill in financial operations and management to our City," Mayor Perrin said.

Allen also stated that she was grateful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Jonesboro.

“I look forward to being part of the Jonesboro family and joining the remarkable team within the Mayor’s office,” Allen said.

Allen will assume her duties on September 21.
