Traffic stop leads to arrest on 3 felony charges

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A standard traffic stop leads to an arrest and a number of felony charges.

According to the Jonesboro police report, a green Ford Ranger was pulled over at Conway Lane and Dacus Lane around 8 Friday night.

The officer stated the driver, Jeremy Brewer, acted extremely nervous.

Brewer kept reaching for a spilled drink in the driver side floor board.

The officer told Brewer to keep his hands on the wheel, but he continued to reach for the cup.

Dispatch told the officer Brewer had six possible warrants through other departments along with a suspended driver’s license.

The officer then called for the K9 team to assist him.

Brewer admitted to police there were drugs in the car.

K9 officer Gabo alerted officers, and officers began to search the vehicle.

JPD found an orange pill bottle wrapped in black electrical tape with possible meth inside.

Under the meth, the report states police found a Xanax bar and white hydrocodone pills.

The officer also found an empty black keychain pill bottle. The officer asked Brewer if he ate any of the meth, but Brewer explained he tried to put the meth in the cup that was spilled in the floor.

Brewer was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a probable cause hearing on the charges of possession of meth or cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, no proof of insurance, and driving while license is suspended.
