Arkansas woman pleads guilty in 10-month-old son's death

DANVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A Greenwood woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and been sentenced to probation for 10 years in the death of her 10-month-old son in the Ouachita Mountains.

The attorney for Brooke Floyd told reporters that Floyd pleaded guilty Friday in the death of Harper Alexander Floyd. Attorney Bill James said Floyd wasn't "directly responsible" for her son's death, but took the plea deal because a jury might hold her responsible.

The bodies of the child and Floyd's husband, Brian Floyd, were found in July 2014, four days after Floyd was found alone in the forest. She has not been charged in her husband's death.

Authorities have said they believe Floyd and her husband were using methamphetamine and that Brooke Floyd abandoned her husband and son because of hallucinations.
