Jonesboro church hosts prayer rally for police

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Highland Drive Baptist Church, 515 E. Highland, in Jonesboro hosted a prayer rally Monday for police.

Several state and local lawmakers, as well as members of the community, gathered to show their appreciation for law enforcement officers and to pray for their safety.

Mayor Harold Perrin, U.S. Representative Rick Crawford, State Senator John Cooper, State Representatives Dan Sullivan and Brandt Smith and Jonesboro Chief of Police Rick Elliot were among the speakers.

The Reverends Johnny Hutchison, Dave Burgess, Ken Wadley, Stan Ballard, Glen Putnam, Matt Smith and Drs. Adrian Rogers and Charles Coleman led the congregation in prayer.

The ministers offered prayers of gratitude and appreciation for those who serve their communities. They also prayed for the surviving spouses and families of officers killed in the line of duty.
