Residents worried after shooting and robbery at apartment complex

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - One person was shot and two people were robbed over the weekend, leaving some residents of a Jonesboro apartment complex worried.

It happened early Sunday morning at the Wolf Creek Apartments in Jonesboro, just blocks away from Arkansas State University.

Residents of the apartment complex, along with parents, are concerned this could happen again.

There is no gate protecting the complex and one parent said she worried about things like this happening in the area when her daughter moved in.

Kylee Westerman moved into the Wolf Creek apartments in August and said with it being mostly student housing it's scary.

"Seems kind of dangerous for all of us to be living there," Westerman said. "I know they are supposed to do background checks and everything, so I felt safe living here, but I really didn't even know about it so it kind of makes me on edge."

Westerman said she hopes either a gate is put up or more security is present so they can control who is coming in and out of the complex.

The complex did release a letter to all of its residents Monday afternoon to inform them of the incident

It also gave them information about how to stay safe while on the property.

According to the police report, the suspects could be 3 black men driving a silver Jeep Liberty with no tags.

If you have any information about this incident, call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP.
