Multiple shots fired reported in Jonesboro neighborhood, woman's car hit

Some Jonesboro residents say they are on edge after they heard multiple gunshots over the past few days in their neighborhood.

According to an incident report from the Jonesboro Police Department, shell casings were found in the parking lot of townhomes in the 4500-block of Highland Drive.

Further investigation found a woman's vehicle also had a bullet hole through it.

Police were called to the area Tuesday morning after a woman found the shell casings in the parking lot.

She said she heard the gunshots around 4 a.m. that day.

While police spoke with the complainant, she also advised them that her neighbor's car had been hit.

Police later spoke with that victim, who said the bullet hole in her car happened from shots that were fired Sunday afternoon.

According to the police report, "both indicated there had been several instances of gunshots in the area recently."

Jonesboro Police Public Information Specialist Paul Holmes said they're working to find out who is doing this and put a stop to it.

"Law enforcement is not a spectator sport," Holmes said. "We need everyone in the community's involvement, participation and help. If the community will help us, we can get to the bottom of things like this."

Region 8 News spoke with multiple neighbors in the area, including the woman whose car had been shot. However, no one felt comfortable going on camera to talk about the recent reports of shots fired in the area.

Many of the people did tell us off camera that they heard the gunshots Sunday afternoon and dropped to the floor in fear of what might happen.
