McCrory motorcyclist killed in I-40 crash

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A McCrory man died Wednesday when his motorcycle hit a car stopped for traffic.

The crash, according to Arkansas State Police, happened at 7:14 a.m. on Interstate 40 near the 148 mile marker in Pulaski County.

Investigators said Derrick W. Williams, 29, was traveling westbound at “a high rate of speed,” when his 2014 Honda motorcycle hit a 2002 Honda Accord that had stopped for traffic.

After colliding with the car, Williams was thrown from his motorcycle, which continued to hit three other vehicles, including an 18-wheeler.

Williams was taken to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock where he was pronounced dead at 8:03 a.m.

The drivers of the other vehicles involved were not injured.
