Paragould D.A.R.E Car Show set for Saturday

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

A weekend fundraiser has something for the entire family while helping children.

Classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles will fill Paragould's Reynolds Park on Saturday morning for the Second Annual Paragould Police D.A.R.E Car Show.

D.A.R.E officer, Corporal Chris Gray, said all of the proceeds go to helping kids through the D.A.R.E program.

“Some of these kids don't experience police in a good manner,” Gray said. “We try to be around them and let them know we are here to help them. If something is going on they can come to us on any situation, bullying, or whatever it is.”

The D.A.R.E program also helps to teach students about citizenship, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and the duties of law enforcement.

It costs $20 to register the first car and $10 for any car after that by the same owner.

There are cash prizes for best of show and people’s choice.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
