Juvenile dead after wreck at Crowley's Ridge Raceway Saturday night

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A night at the racetrack ended with one juvenile dead and another person taken away in an ambulance. 

According to the Greene County Sheriff's Department's sergeant on duty, an accident happened at the Crowley's Ridge Raceway Saturday night. 

One of the cars left the track resulting in an accident that killed the juvenile.

Chief Deputy Rick Mellow could not release that minor's age or name because of the ongoing investigation. 

The Region 8 News crew on scene did see one person being treated and taken away in an ambulance. That person's condition is unknown at this time.

Deputy Mellow also could not release the cause or any details about the accident. 

Raceway owner Trent Francis told Region 8 this was a "horrible accident."

Francis said this was the first fatal accident to occur in the 29 years the raceway has been open.
