MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

The fire that burnt an old school in Burdette to the ground early Sunday morning is being investigated as arson.

Blytheville Fire Department assisted in putting out the fire, along with Burdette, Luxora, and Dell fire departments.

When Blytheville firemen arrived on scene the building was completely engulfed in flames.

Mississippi County Sheriff's Department was also dispatched to the scene around 1:50.

Burdette assistant fire chief Tommy Miller says firefighters were on the scene for about two hours.

He says authorities suspect arson, but the fire is still under investigation.
