JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police arrested a man in an armed robbery who is also suspected in another robbery out of state.
Officers were called to a convenience store at 807 S. Caraway Road just before 11 p.m. Tuesday in reference to the robbery.
According to a Jonesboro Police Department report, police were told a black male suspect wearing dark clothing who had his face covered came into the store "brandishing a chrome or silver revolver" and demanded money from the clerk.
The suspect ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of money and some merchandise, according to police.
During the investigation officers discovered the suspect had gone to the Chateau Apartments also on S. Caraway.
Officers made contact with some people leaving in one of the apartments and determined the suspect, Nicolas Dismuke, 21, of Helena was still inside.
Since Jonesboro police were told Dismuke had a weapon, a SWAT team was called out as a precaution.
Officers were able to get Dismuke out out of the apartment without incident and arrested him for aggravated robbery.
A Jonesboro police officer states in the report that during a search of the apartment two guns were found inside a plastic grocery bag located inside the water tank of a toilet. A "large silver revolver" was found among the handguns.
JPD was notified by other law enforcement agencies that Dismuke was suspected of robbing a pawn shop at gunpoint in the St. Louis area and had ties to Northeast Arkansas.
Officers had been alerted to possibility of Dismuke being in Jonesboro area in mid-Sept.
Arkansas State Police alerted JPD that Dismuke fled from a trooper in Jonesboro near Caraway Road and Stallings Ave. on Sept. 13, according to a news release from the police department.
In that incident the man wrecked his vehicle and eluded the officer on foot. The officer, however, was able to find evidence connecting Dismuke to the wrecked vehicle, as well as a firearm and other items which may have been used in a different robbery.
Dismuke is in the Craighead County Jail and will appear in district court Wednesday for a bond hearing.
