JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Thousands of dollars worth of copper was found damaged Wednesday morning at a construction site north of Jonesboro.
According to the Craighead County Sheriff's Department, construction crews working on a home found the cut wiring Wednesday morning when they went to work.
The home, located on Highway 351, is among a few homes under construction in the area.
Construction crews at the scene told Region 8 News that a lot of the wire was simply cut and did not appear to be taken. However, they estimated that the damage was worth thousands of dollars.
They said they believe whoever attempted to steal the copper wiring might have become scared and left.
Now though, crews are going to have to run new copper wiring throughout the entire home. Crews have also since boarded up the home to keep intruders out.
If you know who might be responsible, call the Craighead County Sheriff's Department.
