Downtown Jonesboro Barbecue Festival begins Friday

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Downtown Jonesboro Barbecue Festival kicks off Friday and competitors are gearing up for the contests.

The festival gets barbecuers ready to compete in a Kansas City sanctioned competition.

Terry Brimhall with Kinfolks Smokin' Butts said he enjoys going to festivals and competitions to spend time with his family.

“We are up here for fun,” Brimhall said. “We do not care about winning. We are up here to just have a good time. It is our family doing it.”

Brimhall said they are competing in the "anything that goes between a bun" contest Friday.

It is his family's fourth year in a row to compete in this competition and he said they do not plan on stopping anytime soon.

Region 8 News will be downtown at the barbecue festival on Friday for a Region 8 Road trip.

The news crew will be live from downtown for Region 8 News at 5 and 6.
