Cook tied for 14th after one round in Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH (KAIT) - Razorback and Jonesboro Golf Alum Austin Cook had a solid opening day at the Tour's Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday.

The weekend has big implications for Cook and many on the Tour as the battle for the top 25 spots ensues. Those making the cut will earn full exempt status for the next season on the PGA Tour. Cook currently sits in 31st but only has this tournament and one other left to make a move to the The 25.

In Thursday's opening round, Cook shot a one under 70 with birdies on holes two, four, eight, ten and twelve. Bogeys on five and 18 with a double bogey on 15 put Cook at his one under mark and tied for 14th on the leaderboard.

Cook is scheduled to tee off 7:08 am central time tomorrow for his second round of play. He'll be paired with Adam Long and Rhein Gibson.
