JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Region 8 man was arrested after trying to eat the evidence at a traffic stop.

According to a Jonesboro police report, an officer pulled 20-year-old Nicholeous Bullard over at Scott and Johnson in Jonesboro Friday because he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

The officer could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and saw a small bag in Bullard's lap.

The JPD officer noticed something in Bullard's mouth, and when the officer asked Bullard to open his mouth he began chewing.

The officer grabbed Bullard's chin to keep him from swallowing whatever was in his mouth.

Once Bullard spit the marijuana out, the officer had Bullard get out of the car and arrested him.

Bullard was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center, and the marijuana was collected for evidence.

His court date is set for Monday.
