Senath welcomes grocery store after four years without one

SENATH, MO (KAIT) - Senath will be getting a grocery store after about four years of not having one.

Mayor Joe Lane said the contractor purchased 1.6 acres for the store on Thursday.

The store will be located off Highway 412, next to the Subway.

The projected grocery store is a Food Giant right now, but the contractor told Lane if that falls through he has a backup plan.

Lane said they plan to start hauling dirt in next week to get the foundation ready for building.

As far as the construction timeline, the mayor is not sure yet.

"Exactly when the construction will start I really can't tell you, but they said we will be selling groceries this time next year," Lane said. "Sounds good to me."

There are two more lots for sale next to the Subway in this area.

Lane said he hopes someone will buy them soon so Senath can continue to see growth.
