JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Craighead County judge found probable cause Tuesday to charge a man injured in an officer-involved shooting.
Clifton Eliot Puckett, 33, is charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of a firearm by certain persons.
On Saturday evening, Jonesboro police were dispatched to a home in the 1300-block of Turner Street regarding a domestic disturbance.
When Officer Brian Arnold went into the house he found Puckett struggling with his wife over a shotgun, according to a Jonesboro Police Department news release.
Officer Arnold reportedly ordered Puckett to drop the weapon several times.
Puckett ignored the officer's commands and continued to struggle with his wife, gaining "full control of the weapon," according to a probable cause affidavit.
"Fearing that Puckett would fire at him or one of the other victims in the room, Officer Arnold fired one shot, striking Puckett," the court document stated.
Puckett was taken to St. Bernards Medical Center then transferred to a Little Rock hospital.
The police department placed Arnold on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an investigation by Arkansas State Police.
