GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The Greene County Sheriff's Department says tough officers wear pink.
In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, all deputies and officers in the criminal investigation unit are wearing pink badges.
Deputy Sheriff Rick Mellow actually made the badges himself.
Sheriff David Carter said they thought of this idea months ago and wanted to do something to show they stand with anyone who is facing breast cancer.
"We just wanted to show our support and make awareness to the community," Carter said. "There's probably not anybody in Greene County that hasn't been affected by this, and we are just doing our part to bring awareness to a good cause."
Sheriff Carter said they plan to wear the badges for the entire month of October.
They hope the color will spark questions so they can explain the reason behind it.
Of course, with it being October 1, you will soon see the color pink all over Region 8.
