Teen riding bike hit by car

A Jonesboro teen riding his bicycle Thursday was hit by a car in the parking lot of a Jonesboro business.

According to a Jonesboro Police Department incident report, officers were dispatched to 1708 W. Nettleton Avenue around 3 p.m. Thursday.

When police arrived, they saw the 14-year-old, whose name was not released, lying in the westbound lane of traffic on Nettleton Avenue.

In the parking lot of 1708 W. Nettleton, a woman, identified as 21-year-old Teyaria Mathews, was sitting in the driver's seat of a maroon car.

Mathews told police that when she was exiting the parking lot, the front bumper of her car hit the teen, who was riding his bike on the sidewalk.

A witness at the scene corroborated Mathew's story.

The teen told police that his leg was hurting and was taken to St. Bernards by ambulance.

Mathews was cited for driving on a suspended license.
