JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A former basketball player at Arkansas State University is facing several felony charges after being arrested over the weekend.

Cameron Dominique Golden, 21, of Memphis was arrested on Oct. 3 and booked into the Craighead County Jail for an aggravated robbery charge.

Court documents indicated an arrest warrant for Golden was issued on Oct. 3 after an incident was reported to the University Police Department.

The robbery victim told police that around 9:40 p.m. on Oct. 2 he was robbed at gunpoint by four black males near the 2300-block of Shelton St. The incident prompted a security notice to be posted on the A-State campus over the weekend.

At first the victim said he did not want to file a report about the incident, but the next morning he did file a report and gave a statement.

According to court documents, the victim told police he arranged to meet the suspects to purchase an ounce of "kush," or high grade marijuana.

The victim said the suspects took $280 in cash from him during the meeting and then ran from the area. The victim told police he chased them to a stairwell at the 1200-block of University Loop.

He told police that one of the suspects pointed a "silver handgun" at him and the victim went back to his vehicle.

A probable cause affidavit stated surveillance video showed the suspects ran to the building and up to the second floor.

A suspect identified as Donald Mark Perry II, 21, of Jonesboro was captured on the video, court documents stated.

Perry, according to documents, went to the University Loop address using Golden's university student identification card. Golden lives in Red Wolf Den Housing at University Loop.

During the execution of a search warrant at Golden's residence, police found a Smith and Wesson handgun in a case inside a refrigerator concealed in the closet of his room, according to the probable cause affidavit. Live ammunition, including a .40-caliber hollow point, was also found.

Court documents stated the gun was reported stolen in August.

Other items discovered in the search included $1,390 in cash, prescription medications (some prescribed to Perry) and a dollar bill with white residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Golden appeared in a probable cause hearing Monday afternoon.

He faces felony charges including aggravated robbery, possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a handgun on school campus and theft by receiving.

Golden's bond was set at $25,000.

Perry appeared alongside Golden in the hearing and also faces three counts of aggravated robbery and delivery of a controlled substance.

Perry's bond was sat at $15,000.

Both men are to appear in circuit court on October 29.

Golden, a senior guard, was dismissed from the A-State basketball team on Oct. 3 as well. He was put on interim suspension per university policy.

Two other suspects involved in the crime are being sought by police.
