Batesville church host dance for people with special needs

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

The United Methodist Church in Batesville will host a Joyful Heart Ball for people with special needs.

The ball is Saturday, October 10 from 7 to 10 p.m.

All ages are welcome along with any caregivers, family members or friends.

The ball is a community dance and a photographer will be there to capture the night.

The Our Sunday School group from the church is putting the event on.

The group got the idea after completing a lesson series called “Jesus Prom”.

Some members in the group have family members or friends with special needs and thought a dance would be a great community event for all.

“Maybe this is just a day where they can feel special and they can be the center of attention and maybe they don't necessarily get to feel that way all the time,” event coordinator Sara Moore said.  “We thought it would be a great addition for our community.”

People can sign up to attend by going to the Joyful Heart Ball Facebook page or show up at the event.

The church hopes to make this an annual event.
