JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - 2015 World Cup champions and midfielders for the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team Heather O'Reilly and Megan Rapinoe will be in Region 8 soon.
The pair's appearance in Jonesboro comes after Century 21 Wright-Pace Realty Brokers and Agents won a national contest called G.O.A.L., which stands for "Go Out and List."
"It was a nationwide Century 21 franchise competition," Keith Pace, a Century 21 real estate agent, said. "It was a listing competition and it just so happened that our office, our listings were up 146% from last year. It was incredible. Thank you Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas."
The win meant that Century 21 Chief Operating Officer Greg Sexton would bring O'Reilly and Rapinoe to Jonesboro.
"We kind of decided, after getting the phone call, that we could use this program however we wanted to," Chrissie Wright, another Century 21 real estate agent, said. "So we thought we would reach out to our community. We spoke with Jonesboro Parks and Recreation and through the City Stars program, and through the Arkansas Revolution program, there's 2,000 kids who play in the soccer program. So we just decided that we would make a fun family event for teens, kids and the parents to come out. They'll get to listen to the players. They'll get to take pictures of the players. We've got the ASU Women's Soccer team. They're going to come out and do some skills for the players."
The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Arkansas State University Student Activity Center on Tuesday, October 13.
The event is free and open to the public. Kids are reminded to bring their shin guards and cleats.
"We plan to give a $500 donation to the City Stars program," Wright said. "We also have some local soccer equipment for the local program, as well, that we will be donating."
