BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas State Police and the Blytheville Police Department have identified the suspects involved in an officer-involved shooting.
The suspects, according to a news release from Chief Ross Thompson, are 33-year-old David Pollock and 35-year-old Michael Bramlett, both of Dyersburg, TN; and 21-year-old Austin Bennett of Trimble, TN.
Pollock and Bennett are both wanted on out of state felony warrants, Thompson said.
Early Thursday morning Blytheville police officers attempted to stop the suspects' vehicle for "suspicious felony activity" when the car sped away, according to a news release from Thompson.
Blytheville officers, with assistance from the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, chased the vehicle to a remote field outside the city.
Officers used their patrol cars to box the suspects in; however, Thompson said the suspects "continued to resist the officers' efforts to end the pursuit and apprehend them."
Thompson said initial reports indicate the suspects assaulted the officers with their vehicle. At that time "officers responded by firing on the occupants," the police chief said.
The driver, Pollock, was taken to The MED in Memphis with a gunshot wound. He is listed in stable condition. Bennett was also shot. He was taken to a Jonesboro hospital, treated and released into police custody. Bramlett was not injured.
No officers were hurt.
The ASP is investigating the shooting while the Blytheville Police Department conducts an internal investigation, Thompson said.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave with pay. BPD will not release the name of the officer(s) involved until the conclusion of its internal investigation.
