JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Hurricane volleyball team won its ninth match of the season on Thursday night at Don Riggs Hurricane Gym in Jonesboro.
The match was tight and ended with a Hurricane victory over Cabot after five sets.
Jonesboro fell into an early deficit by dropping set one by the score of 25-13. The team rallied back to take a tight set two, winning by two with a 26-24 win. With the match evened up, the Canes capitalized with a strong 25-18 victory but would drop the potential clinching set 25-15. Jonesboro would then dominate the fifth and final bout with a 15-5 victory to close out the match and even their conference record back to .500 on the year.
Frances Fitts and Magan Wicker led the Hurricane with 15 kills each. Fitts and Kandace Pointer both had 9 digs while Wicker had 7. Samantha Brandt set her teammates up well with 38 assists on the game.
Jonesboro moves to 9-10 (6-6) on the season.
In the junior varsity match, Cabot defeated Jonesboro in two sets.
