POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

A new apartment complex is planned for 38 acres just outside of Pocahontas city limits.

The land is located off of Highway 62 in Pocahontas just past Dawson Furniture on the right-hand side of the road.

Land clearing is underway for what will be known as "Ridgeland Apartments."

Property owner and developer Mikey Johnson tells Region 8 News that there are plans to expand a pond on the property into a small lake.

They also plan to develop the six acres that front the highway as commercial property.

Johnson said he will construct 120 apartment units. Johnson said the majority of the apartments will be two and three bedroom. There will also be a few one bedroom apartments available.

Johnson said there are also plans to subdivide the north section of the property for single-family residential lots.
