TODAY: Third forum on Jonesboro sales tax questions

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Another forum on two proposed sales tax questions in Jonesboro is scheduled for Monday.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Nettleton Performing Arts Center for residents of wards 5 and 6. It is open to all citizens.

The third forum continues to provide information about the sales tax questions and gather comments about them.

Those questions are as follows: a seven-eighths of 1 percent sales tax, to be collected over 10 years, to fund the city’s share street and bridge improvement projects; and a one-eighth of 1 percent sales tax, also to expire in 10 years, to finance economic development efforts of a new public corporation to be established for that purpose.

A special election will be on Nov. 10. Early voting will start Nov. 3.
