JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Some parts of Region 8 are under an extreme wildfire threat, while other northern parts of the area are under a frost advisory.
Dry and breezy conditions mixed with overnight lows in the 30s will make for a very interesting weekend across the region.
For those in Southern Missouri and NE Arkansas, a frost advisory is out through Sunday morning.
Although this advisory only lasts through 8 a.m. Saturday for today, additional areas of Region 8 may experience frost Saturday night as well, due to the near-freezing temperatures.
Southern counties are not missing any action though.
As dry vegetation and high northerly winds are elevating our risk of wildfires, burn bans are in effect for Stone, Independence, Cleburne, White, St. Francis, Cross and Crittenden counties.
These advisories are not expected to expire until more moisture returns to south central U.S.
It is looking to be a fantastic, fall-like weekend, but you might want to hold off on those campfires until we see a little more rain come through Region 8.
Also be sure to grab that jacket on the way out the door through the weekend, especially if you'll be spending time outside in the overnight hours.
If you haven't yet, download the Region 8 Weather App and tune in to Region 8 News over the weekend to make sure you're up to date with all of the latest advisories in our area.
