Jonesboro man arrested for threatening his wife

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police arrested a Jonesboro man Friday after he threatened to kill his wife.

According to the police report, James Blackmon cracked the door frame and glass while trying to break into a home in the 700-block of June Drive.

Blackmon threatened to strangle his wife because he said she planned to relocate with their children to Mississippi.

When JPD officers questioned Blackmon, he was visibly upset and covered his face with his hands.

He told Officer Gary Jackson that her taking his children away "wasn't going to happen."

Blackmon later told police he would never put his hands on his wife, but did admit he said he was going to kill her.

He is charged with terroristic threatening, residential burglary and assault on a family member.

Blackmon is being held at the Craighead Detention Center without bond.
